    Hi guys
Just want to clarify, Liberty’s youth is not exclusive and we would love it if your friends come. The more the merrier, so keep inviting them. Friday night will be at Tim and Manda’s house, and we will be discussing our dreams(those that you have for life, like “I dream of sailing across the Atlantic ocean to follow the life of bottle nosed dolphins”, not the dream you had last night about your new cat). Do not make a whole list of dreams, you don’t even have to write them down, just come tell us what is in your heart. It will be very personal for some, but very exciting for us all. If you have a friend that you’d like to invite, please do. Remember to let me know if you’re coming, and if you’re bringing a friend or not. See you on Friday at 19:00.
    Lorinda

Youth will start again on Friday 24 July, hope to see you there.

  • Lorinda says:

Wow, wow, wow, so did God have an appointment with me or what? Ok, He did, no or what. I guess I’ll have to start at the beginning. In preparing for youth last term, I really felt so excited about our theme, “Encounters with the King”. We started youth off with a bang and looked at Jesus, and some of the encounters people had with Him. Little did we know that God was busy preparing us for more. (Why do we sometimes only look at what is right infront of us, instead of seeing the fulness that God sees, when He looks into that direction?) So we believe that this was not an accident that the weekend training that we just had in PE was called “Encounters”. Talking about accidents, let me get to the second part of my story. So this Monday started off not to bad, in the greater scheme of Monday mornings this was probably a very good one. The day progressed, and it was still good, until it was time to go home. I got into ‘Elvis”(my little white chico), and made my way home. I chose to drive through town, in York Street, to get to Rooi Rivier Rif. As I approached the the stoplights at the crossing of Union & York, I realised something is not normal. The lights were off, cars were driving very slowly towards the crossing, I noticed “traffic-cars” with their lights flashing, and constuction workers galore. Naturally I slow down, and proceeded very carefully. It got to the point when it was my turn to drive, my indicator light was flashing, the cars approaching were slowing down (because the lights are off, and then we assume a four-way stop, right?). I made my move, I turned, I was almost at home, yay, a perfect Monday, until… all I saw was a big white light shining next to me. It is the end! I can see the light! BANG! “Elvis” jolted, as I grabbed my steering wheel. Someone jumped the stop, and my car is written off. ;-( I went into shock, all I could say with my teary voice is, “It was a fourway stop, it was a fourway stop”. Time came to phone my mother and she was on the seen in no time, then I called my friend Grace and before I knew it she is on the seen. The other person in the accident’s wife came up to me for details, and all I could muster out between sobs is “talk to my broker”, pointing towards Grace. (She’s a good broker by the way, and a great friend). So that kind of set my week in motion, now it’s borrowing cars, getting rental cars, filling in forms, and going to the police. I still went through shock everytime I thought of the experinece, but not always with the same outworking, anger and surprise and laugther are some of the things I experienced. Everyday I foundnd new bruises and sore muscles. By Friday I was so happy that this week was over, but then I hade to “trek” off to PE, and that morning I woke up with a sore neck. I put on my new green scarf, and braved the day. How good is Jesus? Wow. My story now jumps to Friday night. So the meeting is drawing to a close it seems on Friday eve, and I feel yeah, I’m excited, but have this feeling come over me – I’m alone. Where did that come from. We stand and Chad begins to pray for the infilling of the Spirit, I stand ready to be filled, but still feel so alone, so unseen. Out of the blue, Chad stops and says, “someone’s been in an accident”, my ears perk up, “three times”. I go “oh”. He continues and says “this person is in pain right now”. Then my memory is triggered, Monday night I experienced my third car accident. I have been in three car accidents. My hand shoots up and he speaks healing over me. My body feels warm all over, but my neck, is still sore. The night progresses, and I’m encouraged, I’m not alone, Jesus sees me, He hears my prayers, He knows me and picks me out of hundreds of people. Thank You Jesus. Then Chad says, “someone here has neck pain”. “Blind”, here I am, putting my hand up once more. But, hey, let’s pray for my neck, so I put my hand on my neck, he prays for everyone with neck pain, and it feels a bit better, then Chad says, “there is someone wearing a green scarf with a sore neck”, LOL, my hand goes up again. I’m wearing my new green scarf. I’m one of two people wearing a green scarf and both our necks are healed almost instantly. God lets me know, He loves me, He sees me, and He always knows better. My week was great. The accident was no accident. Jesus is so good. This weekend was great, we were encouraged and full of eagerness to see others encounter Jesus and we did. On our way into George we stopped at the mall and went on a treasure hunt. It was nerve wrecking, what were we doing? We’re in the mall, people know us here, but our faith was lifted, we knew, “Jesus is with us, we are not alone”. Woohoo. People were healed and encouraged. Not only did we have an encounter with the King, others could encounter Him as well. So, this was Friday night that flowed into so much more, can you tell me what we are doing next Friday night?

  • Lorinda says:

    Hi all youth
Hope this message finds you as it leaves me. I feel like I have not been here in such a long time. Guess I haven’t! Life has been one big adventure. I love this season of God. I keep hearing people saying how much they are enjoying this “new move of God”. Yes it is wonderful, but I don’t think it is a new move. God has always been moving in this direction. He is never changing and infinitely the same. What I believe is that He has such grace and favour for us that He has made us alive to Him and to what He is doing. He is busy opening eyes and ears to see and hear Him. He is making our hearts beat in His. He is showing us His glory, in a totally new and fresh way, for us. He is being true to His promises. Thank you Jesus. He knew a long time ago that He would do this for us now. Is that not a great thought, that He chose before we were even in this place that He would shower His love on us now. It is thrilling and very humbling at the same time. I know that no effort on my part can do it, it’s all His doing. I don’t have to will His love, He just loves. One thing I’m also realising is that the more I have of Him the more I want. I’m no longer satisfied with just a little bit now and then. Another thing is, that I realise that I am not perfect, in anyway. My heart often looks like a cactus with thorns. I look at it and think how can God pour out His love and glory in and through me. I then realise that His rains come like the rain in Spring, He pours out His Spirit on me His thirsty daughter and then when I look at my heart it is in bloom. Adorned with the most beautiful soft flowers. He is faithful and true and nothing can keep me away from His love. Let our hearts cry be, more Lord, MORE! Let me know what you think. Lots of love Lorinda
